Care and Cleaning

If properly maintained, your oriental rug will last for many generations.  The five basic steps listed below will help you keep your rug healthier, longer.

Cleaning

Depending upon the amount of traffic, a professional washing is recommended every one to three years.  This will enhance it's rich color and soft wool

Rotation

To ensure an even wear, your rug should be rotated once a year.  Depending on the amount of traffic, the rotation can cary from six months to two years.

Vacuuming

Vacuuming removes dirt and restores life to the fibers, but remember to take out the vacuum's "beater bar" prior to starting.  Also remember not to vacuum the fringe as this could damage your rug.

Padding

Placing a quality pad under your oriental rug will help protect it from dirt, wear and slippage.

Restoration

In case of damage, just about any problem has a solution.  Old and antique rugs sometimes need to be rewoven and restored to life.
